What a Winning Week

Holy Week began on Palm Sunday, April 5, 2020. We followers of Christ started preparing how we would celebrate the Savior King, and keep our faith alive with exhortation despite the rules for self-quarantine. Then Passover commenced on Wednesday with so much historic similarity to our current pandemic —a bitter and sweet reminder of the Israelite’s exodus from Egypt and God’s faithfulness to “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you and you shall glorify Me” (Psalm 50:15). Followed by Good Friday, paving the way to today’s celebration of Resurrection Sunday also known as Easter. For Christians, the past week was akin to football fan’s Super Bowl.

The main difference is we Christians never have to question who wins!

We know Jesus undeniably defeated death, hell, and the grave for all of us. And if you don’t then it is not too late to get on the winning team. Come join the largest and brightest fan club known to mankind spreading memes all day, proclaiming He has risen! He lives! That “God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.”John 3:16 AMPC

…Singing,

“God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;

He came to love, heal and forgive;

He lived and died to buy my pardon,

An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow

Because He lives, all fear is gone;

Because I know – oh, oh, He holds the future,

And life is worth the living,

Just because He lives!” *

Let Him live in your heart today and always. He really does hold the future. He knows when this pandemic will end. He’s going to make sure our bills are paid. He doesn’t want us to fear when life is still worth living in new and different ways because He lives!

If you don’t know Him personally. You can invite Him into your life with a simple prayer like this one — “Dear God, I know that I am a sinner, and I believe you sent Your son to die for my sins. I accept Jesus into my heart as my Lord and Savior. Amen.” That’s it.

You are now a part of the team, the family of God, that always wins, even when it doesn’t look or feel like you’re winning. How do I know? Because as my pastor says, “with God, the worst thing is NEVER the last thing.” Jesus was crucified on Friday but by Sunday everything had changed. We will always win because Jesus is risen!

Really,

Leah
