Doing good is good! But how do we know what is GOOD without acknowledging a Good God???
May this message reach all those in political authority over us (for an elected season, thank God!!!!). May they understand that it is not what I say that makes something good. And it is certainly not what “you” say. That’s a joke, but true nonetheless, right? You don’t value my opinion any more or less than I value yours. 🤔 And if that’s true then who can prove that you or I are “not good” people doing good works, and so our country becomes more and more divided.
But. There is One who created the yardstick on which we measure what is moral, prudent, right and wrong. Matthew 19:17. God’s precepts are the unchanging, immovable “stuff” on which centuries of laws are created. (Although nations have, historically, missed the mark when they did not connect their social norms and values to the Highest Power. Caution: Those nations are no longer with us).
Anyway, that’s my two cents based on God’s brilliance — “Turn away from evil and do what is good; seek peace and pursue it.” Psalms 34:14.
Learn what is good from the One who is good.
