NEVER FORGOTTEN. FOREVER GRATEFUL.

“No one has greater love than this: to lay down his life for his friends.”

John 15:13 CSB

Jesus our earthly example, laid down His life for those who followed His commands. They expected a hero who would deliver them from their Roman oppressors, but Jesus gave them something better. He laid down His life, but then He rose on the third day and gave His followers the Holy Spirit and the authority to carry out the Great Commission.

Scripture states, “Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20 CSB)

Jesus died so that everyone would have the inward POWER to defeat the giants in their lands and to help others to do the same through the teaching of His words.

Today we honor those who gave their physical lives so that we could have freedom in this land. Although our American soldiers (in Christ) will not rise again, until the second coming—Jesus’ return, they demonstrated a God-kind of love in their line of duty. They knew the risks and took them so that we could live the flawed but free life we possess in America, with all of her constitutional rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

May we consider the cost of our spiritual and physical freedoms today and give thanks for the bold and the brave.

Happy Memorial Day and may God bless America. Really,

Leah
