Save Our Girls II

“Complicity with error will take from the best of men the power to enter any successful protest against it.” -Charles Spurgeon

When I was a young girl, I had a great time running track and playing flag football, with other girls. However, on August 1, the Biden/Harris administration’s expansion of Title IX will allow boys into female secondary and post-secondary sports and private spaces. This is unbelievable!

The seriousness of this plea may fall on deaf ears because our politics have turned into a popularity contest. I don’t know any of the higher-ups involved, I never had a conversation with any of these people. Still, I do know that policies and principles matter much more than someone’s personality or campaign promises. The proof is always in the tasting. Unfortunately, since May, when I heard that this push was really going to happen, there has been a bad taste in my mouth.

With August 1 literally days away our federal government is in a fight with states over the words: “discrimination”, “gender identity,” and ultimately, the safety of girls and women. States like Florida have already decided not to comply.

If you live in a state that is not already in a lawsuit against this action, please contact your legislators. Find out how this got so far, and ask what you can do to stop it. I provided the list of states in my last blog.

In my state of Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis wrote a letter to the Biden Administration stating that Florida won’t comply with the new rules, which take effect August 1.

What’s at stake? The protection of women and girls, and the lack of federal funding for public schools. Children’s education has suffered enough due to COVID-19 and school lockdowns. Is it reasonable to allow another hit to these young citizens and future voters?

The welfare of school administrators and teachers is also at stake. There are real First Amendment factors to consider when the government is pushing this policy. When I first became aware of what some term as “woke” ideology, which I believe in this case to be quite regressive, I asked several educator friends what they thought about what seemed to be coming down the pipeline. They never responded. Friends I had known for years were too afraid or embarrassed to talk about it. That concerns me even more. What is going on here? There is nothing progressive about fearing that you might lose your job for standing up for children’s right to privacy and protection. There is nothing good about denying your religious convictions to keep your career.

Citizens, Fathers, Mothers, Sisters, and even Brothers, should all be concerned. All women should fight back with their voices, letters, and votes. Girls and women are a vulnerable people group too, and I don’t know when that changed. Girls have suicidal tendencies and deal with mental illnesses and depression, also. Having their safe places taken without every citizen’s consent is not a freedom for them.

And before you suggest it, everyone does not have money to remove all their children from public schools. Florida offers School Choice funding but not enough for half of the population of students. Furthermore, taxpayers already pay for public education, they should not have to run away because of these new federal guidelines. Everything is not discrimination! Some things are still common sense.

Lastly, I do not condone any child being bullied. It breaks my heart. All children are precious with the proper amount of love and guidance, which starts at home. Unfortunately, children who are bullied due to gender need more than the opportunity to play on a sports team, and I will fight for them as I will any other kid to get the support they need.

However, placing this burden on the educational system is a miss.

Thank you, dear readers, for allowing me to share. Please continue to be engaged and proactive. If you live in a state, like mine, that is standing up against foolishness, please thank your Governors and congressmen and women. If not, please continue to pray for God’s perfect will to be done in this situation and have those tough conversations about girls’ and women’s rights. Because right now, they are the ones who don’t have a choice.

Matthew 18:6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

Passionately yours, really,

Leah

  1. Leah,

Thank you for another well thought out post. I might end the paragraph in which you mention COVID and lock downs by speaking of “another hit these young citizens and future voters.” I would not want someone in the political process to get distracted by a phrase I certainly understood.

    Keep up the good work!

    1. Thank you and duly noted.
