I hope this message finds you well! Can you believe how quickly this month has zipped by? It feels like our world has morphed into a gripping serial drama. Perhaps it’s always been this way. Only now I’m finally old enough to take it more seriously and to grasp the nuances that once eluded me. Over the last couple of weeks, instead of shedding light on issues here, I’ve joined the chorus of voices sharing snippets and snapshots on social media, leaving onlookers to gloss over them.
But here, I can be “really” in-depth. Taken seriously. So, I’ll admit that I find myself in a peculiar position—like someone feigning sleep in the middle of a crowd, feeling the hands of a kind soul drape a blanket over me, and dimming the lights. That’s when my eyes pop open, having absorbed the mention of the chaos around us: the Paris Olympics’ controversial opening ceremony’s insult of Christ and His last supper, the faltering leadership of our U.S. Secret Service, escalating conflicts in the Middle East, Montana’s courts permitting underage abortions without parental consent, and Planned Parenthood’s abortion and vasectomy van stationed just outside the Democratic National Convention. Truly, nothing shouts “family values” quite like a quick snip in the parking lot. As I quipped on social media, “You can’t make this stuff up.”
One bright voice amidst the noise came from Robert F. Kennedy, a person I hadn’t paid much attention to (beyond his high-power name) until he endorsed former President Trump, and said these words: “We need to reach a point where we love our children more than we hate each other.” His words resonate deeply, considering the Supreme Court’s August 16th decision, denying the federal government’s emergency application to stay preliminary injunctions in the Fifth and Sixth Circuits on Title IX. It’s a victory for women and girls! The news is promising and provides a temporary respite in our ongoing struggle for women’s and girl’s safety.
You can read the ruling, along with the dissent of the four more liberal justices below. In my view, the political machinations at play are why RFK made his comment. The Supreme Court should be the one branch of government that embodies nonpartisanship but I don’t see it here.
The protection of our children must rise above the fray of political division and animosity. When we recognize that a new law is overreaching, leaders must have the courage to acknowledge it. Twisting language to accommodate social constructs and factions is a risk of igniting another Roe v. Wade proportion. It invites the government to pass judgment on private matters.
This is how freedom can spiral into fanaticism, as human laws attempt to overshadow God’s principles. Left unchecked, humanity tends to overreach, neglecting the vital honor of restraint.
Don’t take it from me alone, let me share a thought from Caitlyn Jenner, (formerly Bruce Jenner, a celebrated Olympian and athlete who transitioned to a woman at the age of 65). In a recent discussion about Title IX’s new “gender identity” provisions, Jenner spoke candidly about suffering from gender dysphoria at a young age, and how sports provided a pathway to success—one he wouldn’t have taken had laws like these been instituted. Jenner’s reasoning—distraction. At a time when higher numbers of children cannot read by the third grade, we need our educators to focus on academics.
As for the choice to murder the unborn (preborn), let me tell you it was never a good and moral thing to do. Our society felt that way once too. Abortion was something pagans did to limit the number of female children, to limit the number of children born to older parents, and to curry favor with false gods. Disabled children fell into those permitted to be killed, as well. But if you don’t understand history, you give in to the convenience.
The lure of convenience is like eating junk food. Once we start, we don’t want to let it go. We don’t like to consider the consequences, either. The difference is that junk food lacks a heartbeat, although it may very well stop our hearts from beating. Lol. Junk food is not alive. People, however, are very much alive. However, when we craft new words, and concepts, and create new definitions, to add into constitutional laws, those laws become entrenched and difficult to dismantle.
The purveyors of abortion will say things like “I’m not going back.” But they already have gone back. Again, abortion is an archaic archetype, with the only change being that women are demanding it, unapologetically for our most precious next generation. Folks are lobbying for more abortion centers near colleges and universities as I type. And it makes sense because Roe created generations of women who do not realize that they have already regressed and that abortion is not the same as birth control.
My species includes a set of women who cannot seem to understand that our reproductive rights began when we practiced the act of reproducing. It is almost laughable to think that anybody is stopping us from having sex or from using real, time-tested birth control either. On the contrary, women have more sex than ever and sadly, more abortions.
According to Guttmacher (an abortion advocate and analyst), the abortion numbers have increased dramatically. Since Roe was abolished, in 2023, there have been at least 1,037,000 babies murdered in the year following. This is the highest number of deaths perpetrated in the womb in a decade. (So much for abortion restrictions and bans.) Can you imagine how high that number will grow if voters enshrine abortions into state constitutions? Or if abortions become the law of the land?
But that’s the plan, and women are leading the charge, flooding the airwaves with a faux consensus based on misleading information. Even doctors are confused, ridiculed, and afraid of losing their licenses if they don’t comply. People attempting to educate young women on sexually transmitted diseases, and abortion risks, are being labeled as hateful, and repressive. While politicians have gone so far as to outlaw the dissemination of their pro-life information or pro-life websites. Ironic, isn’t it? Planned Parenthood can prevent parenthood and that’s okay, but a life-giving message is disparaged. (So much for choice.)
We, followers of God, know Who gives life. And God’s not finished yet.
My message for people who want to claim their progressiveness is that they fail to have a clear vision of the people-less future they are producing. By redefining everything God has set in order they will inevitably shorten the lifespan of the current civilization. I pray that they will wake up before it is too late.
Please keep fighting with me through prayer for all the children, the developmentally disabled, and the elderly, who cannot fight for themselves. They need our unconditional love–as Jesus had for us. Remember, our fight is not with the people masquerading as leaders or influencers, but against the principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places. And when God’s people fight, we win.
In God’s grace and mercy,
Leah
