Week End Wins, #5. 2025

Happy Friday,

I hope you stuck to your plan today. I did, and it still feels fabulous! I was able to physically connect with fellow writers.

It has been months since I have seen their faces, read their words, extended critiques, and scribbled notes on ways to improve my own writing skills. Oh, how much brighter my world is because I was there.

Tomorrow, I will take about an hour to assess all my other wins this week. During my review, I like to ask myself questions: Did I stick to my schedule, and if so, why? What open loops exist? Did I set myself up for success next month? Am I moving closer to my happy ending for 2025?

As I’m writing you, I am reminded of a time-management strategy I intended to share this week. Because I didn’t, it will be at the top of my list for writing topics next week—I have so many things on that list! However, trying to keep letters short and sweet is more important than doing a brain dump (even when the brainy stuff I intend to share is from the most exceptional minds ever). Pacing is essential.

Moreover, I hope the shorter letters allow us to practice what we are learning. It is no easy task to build, write, or complete projects. If it were, everyone would be living their dreams. But the reality is that people put off their true passions for paychecks every day.

I get it, but I also think God puts desires in our hearts, especially when we are open to following His ways, that won’t be satisfied until we make moves toward those aspirations. The book you are dreaming about writing, the play you long to produce, starting that nonprofit, tweaking an invention, whatever “it” is, then you must do something toward it. As I tried to press this week, we don’t have time to waste.

That was the bottom line for the week. We cannot forget our dreams while we are making ends meet or caregiving a loved one. There is more to you and I than what people see on the outside.  And with that, I am out until next week.

Peace and continued prayers for your journey and for all those affected by the fires in California.
