Doctor’s Visit Days for Caregivers

Caregiver’s doctor visit preparation checklist with three sections: before the visit, essentials to take, and during the visit.

Doctor’s visit days can be exhausting, right? How about doing it for your sister who is wheelchair bound and the appointment is over an hour away! It’s no walk in the park. But it’s worth it and necessary. And because it is, we start days ahead planning for the trip:

Which vehicle?

Which wheelchair?

If we take the van, who’s riding in the back to keep Candra’s head supported?

If we take the car, how do we transfer her safely?

What will we wear for the weather outside and the weather inside the physician’s office? Layers help.

We pack extra diapers, snacks, medication, and water (because we’ve sat in traffic, stuck for 4 hours on the interstate, trying to get back home before).

Every detail matters and we haven’t even gotten to the doctor’s office yet.

Doctor’s visit days means all hands on deck for a successful day. We do what we do to make it work and team work makes this dream for a successful day work.

But what’s your routine or ‘must-brings’ to make appointments smoother? Planning appointments on the same day is one of the many things we do as you’ll hear in the video. What works for you?
