A Thanksgiving Thought

Yesterday I was reading in my bed, and I stopped on this passage of Scripture that reads, “What can I offer the Lord for all He has done for me?”

At first thought, my answer was an equivocal, “nothing.” I am a mere human. I can’t offer anything to the Creator of the universe.

Yet my answer seemed incomplete.

So I reread the question in a different version. (The Message Bible)— “What can I give back to GOD for the blessings he’s poured out on me? I’ll lift high the cup of salvation—a toast to GOD! I’ll pray in the name of GOD; I’ll complete what I promised GOD I’d do, and I’ll do it together with his people…Oh, GOD, here I am, your servant, your faithful servant: set me free for your service! I’m ready to offer the thanksgiving sacrifice and pray in the name of GOD. I’ll complete what I promised GOD I’d do, and I’ll do it in company with his people, In the place of worship, in GOD ’s house, in Jerusalem, GOD ’s city. Hallelujah!”

Afterwards I was confident my highest and best answer would be, and is, “Everything I am, Lord. I offer my all to You. “

May you consider asking yourself this simple question as we celebrate Thanksgiving. With all its twists and surprises, 2020 has still brought us small and bountiful blessings. We only need to take the time to notice them.

Have a thoughtful Thanksgiving, dear ReallyLeah readers. I am nothing but grateful for each of you—peace and health to your families and homes. 🙏🏽🍁❤️
