Keep Stepping

Today’s MOTIVATE ME MONDAY comes straight from the good book, which is the Word of God. Psalms 37:23-24 declares that a person whose purpose is to follow God has their steps established by the Lord God.

So far this morning I have taken over 7,000 steps. Each one, God ordered. He knew I needed the sunlight and the fresh air, and all the benefits to my body. He knew the walk along the beach would do more for my day than merely sitting high and looking down at the waves. Boy, oh boy, was God right!

I feel good. No, I feel amazing! I am not hungry or achy. I am good. Not because I walked but because I obeyed the leading of the One who directs my steps. #obedienceHasBenefits

The second Scripture goes deeper, speaking to our natural inclination to miss a step. Because we are trying to be like Jesus, but we are not quite there yet, we will fall or stumble and cease to step. But we should find encouragement in the scripture to never stay flat on our bottoms or our backs. The words in this verse remind us that God will lift us up and support us back into a position to follow Him again. He gives us the posture we need to keep moving.

Moreover the misstep will not take us out, but we will survive and step again. I am living proof that these Scriptures are true. When I made an unapologetic decision to follow Jesus and hear from God concerning my purpose and passion I started stepping with boldness. There was no more fear that I would fall.

And if and when I stumble, I know it is not the end of the world. I know I have the best support system known to mankind in the name of Jesus. The promises I have in Him will lift me back up and I will step again. It is a supernatural faith that creates supernatural results in the natural.

So even if, for some crazy reason, I made an excuse to not exercise and perhaps I began to feel arthritic or something, the Lord’s grace would eventually take me by the hand and help me step again. That’s not only my truth. It is yours too if you are a follower of Christ.

I don’t know what your are facing this week. Perhaps it is a new career, a new move, a new doctor, the same one, or something entirely different. It really does not matter if you believe that God is leading you in that direction. Just do it! Only obey the still small voice in your heart.

Take that step, the next step He leads you to take, and do so for the rest of your life. Do it by faith.

Then, if for some reason, you take a wrong step and fall or stumble (hint: you will), know that God will lift you back up again.

You will never have to stay down for long if you allow God to help you get back up.

So keep stepping this week. And enjoy the journey to wherever God leads you. Amazingly yours. Really,
