Getting the messy thoughts out of your head and putting those words on a private page (not TWITTER) can be healthy.

A journal is a safe place to vent and get over your inward issues without destroying someone’s character, confidence, or career. I believe in journaling. I have used journals and diaries to let out my private aggressions, much like a boxer uses a punching bag. Once upon a time, when social media was new, I had to learn the hard way that calling out friends in a public forum was not the place to air disagreements. We all survived but not without long-lasting scars. Sometimes, the damage done is irreversible.
My suggestion to people who get off on shaming others is to write it out on paper and then throw it away. Unless its purpose is for a more significant project, and I cannot even think of one, then trash it! Seriously, if you write something disparaging about someone else and that person is not a rapist or a murderer, then burn it and never bring it up again.
Life is too short to carry around ill-will or thoughts about others. The Bible states, “Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:” Ephesians 4:26. If you want to sleep better at night, try writing and ripping, meaning, write the crap that you hate down and then ripping it up before you go to bed.
Words of Wisdom
“And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” – Mark 11:25-26 NKJV
We are all adults now, so let’s play fair and grow up. If we have nothing nice to say, tweet, or post, we should consider keeping it to ourselves. For if we fail in this area, we will surely reap the same insults. And who needs that? So what do you do to rise above derogatory remarks made about you?
